Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Casual Vacancy (Kindle Edition)
I have no official review for this book as I have yet to read it. However, I just downloaded it to my kindle and the font is tiny. I must set my kindle font to the biggest it allows and it is still too small to read comfortably (plus the margins are now huge). Considering it killed me to purchase an ebook for over the usual 10-12 bucks I really feel that one costing $17.99 the font should be formatted properly.

don't review it if you haven't read it.

I disagree. This is a product review and right now, this product is defective. I'd consider that information useful before I made a purchase. I only care whether a book is good or not if I am able to read it.

i agree...your reviewing the product..which even means the font when downloaded..if you find something that you think is wrong (especially for the price) then please do review and write it..it does help when one is thinking of purchasing it...

Absolutely a valid "review" in this case. I will wait on purchasing.

I feel that rating "book by its cover" (so to speak) does a disservice to both the author and the folks depending on ratings to make purchase choices. If the format is bad, notify Amazon and note it in your review but don't downgrade the author's work for something over which they have no control. If you haven't read the book, I don't think you are in a good position to share an opinion on its contents. In any case, thanks for the warning about the formatting.

I agree that you shouldn't review a book you haven't read. You would be better off contacting Amazon so they can either help you or give you a refund.

Absolutely agree with the review. If I am spending 17.99 on a ebook, my least expectation is good format! Thanks for saving my money.

Given the limitations of Amazon's review process, and especially marking the review with the title of "Format!", this review is helpful to warn potential buyer about a serious defect. If Amazon does the right thing and solves the problem, the review can always be removed or changed later. I guess it's unfortunate that the "star rating" may not reflect the content, but given the limitations of the review process, I think the reviewer is doing a service. If you can't read it, you never get to the content, so warning people is valid. Amazon provides no way to "score" the content - just an overall star rating.
