See what I did there? Basically, this film is a Viking Heart of Darkness.
Instead of a crazy Kurtz, Prince Steinar must lead a bunch of scary ratbag warriors in search of his barking mad elder brother so that he can become king. Along the way, there is plenty of swordfighting (yay!), some crazy random strangers, more swordfighting, some simplistic bagging of Christianity (Steinar sounds a bit like a keyboard atheist on a chat forum at times), and a strange cave bound finale.
All in all, not a bad little flick. Looks good, despite a small budget, but I wouldn't say the film had an authentic look, costume wise (Saxons wearing spooky masks? Why? Well, why not I suppose). A bit of fun, if you're up for a violent romp with characters you don't really care about.
