2 negatives... and still 4.5 stars!,
This review is from: DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater (Misc.)
Giving this 4.5 stars.
The positives: (1) Thin - just like a flat screen TV. I keep it on the rolling wheel base because I figure heat rises, so why bring it up any higher? (2) fairly light and convenient to carry from room to room. Product info states ~13lbs and the handle is recessed on the top portion of the heater. (3) Nice design, could really be installed in the bottom of a wall and it would look like a covered fireplace, unlike radiator heaters which just looks industrial (4) heats up my 220sqf room within minutes, maybe less than 5 minutes (5) The grate protecting the inside of the unit is hot to the touch but it does not burn even though the heat is in full max power - so not worried with kids/pets around (6) No noise whatsoever!!! (7) very easy to install - put on the base, plug in, turn knobs on! Realize the wheel bases are marked L and R, otherwise it won't fit.
The negatives: (1) Instructions state not to plug other things into the same outlet... that limits where I can place the heater! Perhaps they mean as long as the other things are not on? I do have a good place for it so it works for me. (2) Wish it had a timer! I have this in my second floor bedroom which is colder than the rest of the lower level. I would love to have a timer so it automatically turns on at a specific time... and a timer to turn it off so I don't have to get up to turn off at night. It heats up my 220sqf bedroom within minutes (guess that's a positive!) so I don't want to sleep with the heater on.
Bottomline - pricewise, better buy than some smaller or bulky heater-looking space heaters (esp if bought with a 20% off coupon!)... I hope this really is the newest in technology for energy saving heaters.

Try the Lux Win100 Programmable Heating & Cooling Thermostat...sold for the best price right here on Amazon. I have used one with a single room air conditioner and my 10-yr old DeLonghi oil-filled radiator. It is fantastic! I will soon be trying it with either the micathermic heater or a radiant fireplace-type heater...still researching which is most efficient as energy costs are very high here in CA. [PS: please note the Win100 cannot be used with digitally controlled appliances.]

You can buy a separate timer. Just make sure the timer can handle the wattage. I'd recommend the Woods 59377 Digital 7-Day Lamp/Appliance Timer.
