4.0 out of 5 stars A good buy for the price, November 27, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Acer Aspire V3-771-6865 17.3-Inch Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core i3-2328M Processor, 6GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, Windows 8) Midnight Black (Personal Computers)
With the single exception of the slick and easily smeared 'show every fingerprint' case, this is a fast, well-built and very quite laptop. However, and this is not a comment on the laptop, as a former mainframe and peripheral Field Engineer I must say that Windows 8 is the most difficult, inconvenient and non-intuitive OS I have ever used in more than 40 years (not a typo!) of involvement with computers!

To Noah S., I was doing some research on the Acer Aspire Laptop I'm considering purchasing the device when I came across your comment or should I say complaint regarding Windows 8, if you go to: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/

or you can write to:

The people at Microsoft are willing and ready to assist you with any issues you may have. But with your 40 years experience I'm sure you knew that.

It's not that I can't operate in Windows 8, Skip, it's that I don't like it!

Yes Skip, you don't get it. I hit the stores at the end of November to ensure that I got this item in Windows 7. There was little overlap this time between 7 and 8 and I bet a lot of unhappy buyers will complain.

Windows 8 is a pain, but this can easily be rectified by installing Classic Shell which is a free program that will make the 8 interface look like 7. You will get the benefits of increased speed and security.
