5.0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS, September 14, 2005
This review is from: Snatch (Special Edition) (DVD)
Some people write in their reviews the movie is braindead, stupid and not funny at all. Well, it depends on what kind of humor you prefer. If you like Tarantino, Coen brothers, Guy Ritchie's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", films like "Thursday", "Get Shorty" and "Way of the Gun", then this opus is just for you. If you can't stand all of the listed above - just skip this one.
To my opinion "Snatch" is much better then previous Ritchie's work, more than that - it's one of the best criminal comedies. It's more criminal than others, it's more funny than others. Guy Ritchie actually did his best here and created an atmosphere of absurd, chaotic fun. The acting is perfect, Brad Pitt is totally different from what we used to see, Dennis Farina is just soooo hilarious! Now I can't normally see him in other movies - I recall "Snatch" and begin to laugh hysterically.
The characters' lines are funny and the way they deliver them is even funnier. By the way it's one of the few films I had to watch with captions - I couldn't understand much of being said because of their cockney (if I'm not mistaken) accent.
Anyway if you like crazy criminal comedies - watch it without any question. If you don't - watch something else instead.

I agree, great movie...Just not $31.49 greater. More like $14.99 great.

Alongside Bullet Tooth Tony, one of my favorite characters in the movie is the un-killable Boris the Blade (unless I'm mistaken, he uses one or two Russian profanities that don't get translated in the English subtitles). I'd be interested to know your opinion of Boris.

I think the moral of this story was,
Shoot the pig (too smart),
and hire the dog (too covetous).
Because there are two kinds of people
in this world, Those with loaded guns,
and those that dig... The third kind,
get shot.

Henry Czerny is in this movie,
playing a world-weary Rasputin,
who is hard to kill... He creates
memorable characters, from movies
such as 'Clear and Present Danger'
to 'Stigmata' to the TV show 'Revenge'.

That said, another lesson to take from
this movie is, How can you dodge a bullet
if you do not see it coming?

Dogs - they are covetous, and
visually-oriented.
Pigs - they are clever, and will "eat
anything" - the opposite of visually-oriented,
they go with what they hear. "I got a tip...
Oh, what do you know?" ... But not
discerning between good and bad, the
"good stuff" never enters their hearts,
and so they remain deaf concerning their
inevitable demise. The beauty of a Rosary,
they do not hear.

.. Protestants (pigs) and Catholics (dogs)...
Divide and conquer, eh, Yojimbo?
Do either go to heaven?

Bad art... Bad sermons. But one thing
about Catholics - some things are
sacred. So, after they go after the
piker's family - war is inevitable... Pigs,
they ought to be careful with their
words.

Star Bux says:
SNATCH - To take ; to "scoop up" that which you admire.
Snatch is also slang, for a woman's "solar plexus region".
In the Bible (kjv) some body parts are not given a name,
or are labelled with two words, rather than one. For
example, a man's "solar plexus region" is referred to as
his 'privy member, and his stones'. The Word of God is
Truth. If He does not refer to a man's privy member by
one word, then neither should you - is my advice. If you
think about it, a single word can be pronounced many
different ways, and new meanings might be assigned
that word, especially if it is used as a label. There is
no word given for a woman's "private area", but one word
is given which refers to all : The Matrix of all flesh.
Whether "human" or "beastly", the Matrix of all flesh
refers to that dimension from which life emerges to this
physical plane of existence - which life is bound, or
"bottled" in flesh.

That said, this movie reminded me of that Looney Tunes
cartoon, where Sylvester the Cat boxes with the "giant
mouse", which is actually a kangaroo. A pouch, is a
place where one might put what one snatches... To
snatch, per chance, something of value. One should be
careful with words. If one has a limited vocabulary then
one is not able to express certain thoughts. I think if a
person knew only the words which appeared in the
Bible (kjv) then that person would be strong. Hence, you
should be careful about not learning some words - to keep
your vocabulary useful, and pure, and to safeguard your
lips. Per chance, so that whatever you say, would be
useful only - to do good, to heal, and not to harm. I
think whoever named that State, Virginia, deserves a
Nobel Prize.

To snatch, per chance, something of value. Remember
that closing scene from the movie, KickAss, where he
takes flight? Sometimes, hearing is seeing. Whoever
scored that 49 second scene, deserved an Oscar. For
that "sound-byte", made the movie.. Somebody once
expressed a theory about music to me - saying that music is
like sex, from "foreplay" to "petting" to "orgasm", is how
songs seem to be constructed. She may have a point.
The violence in KickAss - objectionable sure, but by the
time the movie approaches that climactic ending, the
trip seems to become worthwhile.

.. It is not a sin to marry (to "have sex") but it is written that
he who keeps his virgin (who "falls in love" but does not
"have sex") does better than he who gives her away...
Snatch, is a word which appears in the Bible (kjv).
Wherefore then, would you assign that word, another
meaning? To do good?

That said, that famous IKEA "start the car!" commercial
also comes to mind... And in closing, I find KickAss 2 to
be morally repugnant to the Constitution of Ireland.

A verse :
See, 1 Peter 1:15, kjv.

What comes naturally to some, takes effort for others.
Heart - that matters... A comb is useful,
but not necessary..
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
