1.0 out of 5 stars decent picture but unreliable and unstable, October 23, 2010

This review is from: Logitech Alert 700e Outdoor Add-On HD Quality Security Camera with Night Vision (961-000338) (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (Electronics)
I've had my system plus one add-on camera for 6 months now.

Overall its a disappointing experience.

The cameras need to be regularly manually reset. Meaning you have to go power them down wherever they are setup because they will no longer connect to your computer. I also need to reformat one of my camera's memory card almost every few weeks because I will check and the camera has stopped recording.

pretty much a pain to use and very unreliable.

Avoid these until they come out with a fix.

I have had my system for about two weeks and I have had some very bad issues too! I have had to do a factory reset and a manual SD card format from my PC. It seems to be working great now but it has been a horrible two weeks. I hope this will be it for my troubles. When it works it is AMAZING!!!!

Same here. Someone tried to burn our yard last night and it sent the screen shot to my email of the crime but it didnt record a video so we can't see who the people were. This is why we bought the system and when we needed it........it failed us in a major way!!!!!

Bought system - exact same problems - sd card flaky and unreliable. Returned it before 30 days was up for refund. Typical logitech product - ended up buying professional CCTV system - over 1 year w/o problems, phone integration, network viewing, digital network HD cams etc. Price was cheaper than logitech!

All of the above issues can be avoided by simply using a PoE Ethernet switch.
