Nice, easy to use camera,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Blue) (Electronics)I recently decided to upgrade from my Powershot A540 to the A1100IS. What I got was a nice, easy to use camera with many improvements from the earlier model. I find the picture quality to be very good. While other reviews indicate that it performs poorly in low-light conditions, thus far I haven't had that problem. All of the pictures that I have taken to date have been clear and crisp. There are times when the video viewfinder may appear grainy in low light when attempting to take a picture, however the pictures actually taken are not grainy at all. It is very user friendly, and the motion detection, face recognition, and image stabilization add vast improvements over earlier models. It is small and slim even though it takes AA batteries. If you're looking for a nice, small, easy to use and very sturdy camera, I would highly reccommend this one.

Is the battery "door" just like the A540 or not? Thanks.

I don't have the A540, but I have a Canon A530. The battery door on my new Canon A1100 is virtually the same as the A530. On both cameras there is a small gray button on the door that you slide down, and then you slide the battery door to the right to open it. The door on the A1100 is a little smaller (because the camera is slimmer) and it seems that there is more pressure on the batteries when you close the A1100 door, and those are the only differences that I noticed.
