What is up with that ridiculous cover?,
This review is from: Anne of Green Gables : Three in One Set : Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea,Anne of The Island (Paperback)
The Anne of Green Gables Series is a wonderful collection of tales about a bright, spirited, lovely young woman. The series gets 5 stars. Seriously. Buy this for every young person you know - it's great for girls and boys, and grown ups too.
The "Updated" cover of this product is terrible. First of all, Anne has red hair. RED HAIR. It's a key part of her character and is a strong influence on her words and actions. Secondly, Anne is 10 at the start of the series. What is up with the bedroom eyes? Did they just do a Google image search for Sexy Farmgirl? Does anyone publishing this book have any idea of what the stories are actually about?
Ugh, so disappointing. Please buy Anne of Green Gables! But please don't buy this stupid version! KEEP ANNE GINGER!

Exactly! This is a self-published book by someone trying to make a quick buck on words they didn't write, since LM Montogmery's work is in the public domain. Poor Lucy must be rolling in her grave. :(

No surprise but it's horribly, horribly typeset as well. Don't see how anyone could actually read three novels set that badly.

appalled by the cover Whoever designed the cover never read the book. I have purchased
the series of books many times as gifts but will not being buying this version. Parent magazine had a blog referencing "50 shades of green" I smiled having read the Grey version but our Anne girl led the way and helped liberate many of us- this isn't erotic romanance- shame on this publisher for defacing Canadian literature in such a manner

sarahmas: I could not agree more. Publishers really can be unutterably silly sometimes, and this is a case in point. As stated, please buy and read the books - all the 'Anne' books are wonderful, but DO NOT buy this edition. Let's hope the message will get through and we won't have to suffer this foolishness again.

Agree with all that has been said......seriously.....this choice of cover appears to show more about the--literacy skills, or lack thereof--of the publishers, and they have no business messing with 'our Anne'.

Actually, because this particular publication is a three book set, the reviews only show up on the box sets available. So most of the other versions are untouched.
