Hi Ronald,
thanks for your insightful comment. You must have put a lot of thought into it ;) The fact is, people don't always read Nikon literature. Also, I demonstrate working with the lens and see that real humans can use these things rather than just seeing screenshots and extraneous detailed information. Watching a video, even if it's just the facts, is what people want to see. So far, most people seem to be finding my reviews as helpful. And FYI, my face is plenty other places online. Go find someone else to bother. I'll continue my video reviews in the meantime.

An OK video. Would have been better if there was better lighting so you could see the lens better. Anyway, I to have this great lens and must say it's wonderful. But I recommend to you Dustin and others to get a better head then what was in the video. I recommend the Bogen / Manfrotto 3421 Heavy Duty Gimbal which can be had for about $185. I use this with my 200-400mm lens and it moves like it's floating on air.
I would really like to some of your photos you took with your 200-400 Dustin. Later, David

One thing I got from this video review that I have never found in a Nikon marketing or advertising literature is a sense of the size of the objective (glass-end) of the lens. It is much larger in diameter than I had envisioned. Thanks for the video review: it's just one more data point source used to make the buy/don't buy decision. (I've ordered one).

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I know the lighting wasn't great, but I wasn't going for an oscar. I figured that perhaps if you needed to see better shots of the camera, there are already hi-rez photos online of the lens. Hopefully you got a sense of how large the lens is just from me holding it and playing around with it. The head was the standard head that comes with the lens, it seems to be ok. Thanks for the tip on the other one, I'll have to look into it. As far as photos I've taken with it, here are some:

Ronald, I'm not sure what your deal is, but you added absolutely nothing to this discussion, other than flaming the reviewer. Yes the review was more basic, but as others have said, and I agree with them, the review gives you the best sense of of size, weight, etc. that I've seen. If you want absolutes, hardcore number crunching, etc. then go to forums that deal with those subjects in more detail. You cannot get into that type of information here. Amazon reviews are more about the basics, and seeing the items up close and personal, so save your flames for some one that deserves it.
Thank you Dustin for posting the review and ignore people like Ronald, who never offer anything, but flames. P.S. Ronald if you have so many talking points, etc. on this lens then feel free to post a video. In other words put your money where your mouth is or just go away. I doubt that you would add much since you can't even spell simple words in your previous post.

Obviously Ronald S. Miller got beat up a lot in high school, and now needs to belittle others to make himself feel better.
Thanks for the time and effort Dustin, I found the video informative.

Hey guys,
thanks for the comments :) I'm glad other folks are still finding the video reviews useful. I'm looking forward to seeing other people's videos as well but it seems as though not many people have caught on to Amazon's new feature to do so.

Dustin... I enjoyed the video. I am in the market for the lens. I particularly enjoyed your putting into perspective how large the lens is. I travel constantly and I am worried about how to carry the lens on a plane and still take my other gear. My thought is that when I get the lens that I will also buy a Lowepro Vertex 300 AW backpack. I plan to carry the lens on a D200 body plus carry an extra body and a couple of lenses. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, Dustin. I appreciate you doing a super job showing us the incredible size of this optic in comparison to the camera. Like another commentor said, I've only seen the pics of the lens by itself. I hope you enjoy this thing. I hope to get one someday.
