5.0 out of 5 stars Think twice before ordering the Mass Market publication, January 25, 2001
This review is from: The Story of Philosophy: The Lives and Opinions of the World's Greatest Philosophers (Mass Market Paperback)
I did a search for ''The Story of Philosophy'' and only the Mass Market version of this book came up (ISBN 0-671-73916-6) which I ordered. The print was so unreadable due, at least to my copy, of a very heavy, black, flared type-setting. There was no chance of reading the book with any enjoyment....lo and behold I find a second book (ISBN 0-671-69500-2) which is excellently type-set, and very readable. Even though this second book format is twice the price of the cheaply done Mass Market format, it is eminently worth it. I make these comments, in order to save some poor soul from the hassle I went through to get a readable copy of this most excellent book.

Thank you. I need a book with print I can read and have been disappointed with other titles in paperback with print so bad that the book is worthless.

Thank you for alerting people to this, however you will find the price of the readable book a lot more pricey than twice the cost more like five to six times the cost.

i think you may have clicked on the audiobook or something. I am looking at the paperback with the isbn he gave and it is just a few bucks more. The typeface is much crisper and lighter and much easier on the eyes. Thanks to the reviewer for the original heads up.

Story of Philosophy (Touchstone Books) looks to me like the more legible (but reasonably priced) trade paperback edition we're all liking. I'm posting here just to give everyone a link.

I own the Pocket Books paperback edition September 2006 from Simon and Schuster and the print is perfectly legible. I can take this little treasure everywhere and I never had an issue with the size and clarity of the print or for that matter having to worry about an e reader running out of battery. Only paid 8 bucks for this masterpiece. This book will make you fall in love (maybe again) with philosophy, knowledge and history.
