This review is from: Champion Power Equipment 46539 4,000 Watt 196cc 4-Stroke Gas Powered Portable Generator With Wireless Remote Electric Start (CARB Compliant) (Lawn & Patio)
The Champion 46539 generator with remote is awesome. Finally somebody has designed an intelligent home owner type generator. You must get the remote starter to also get the RCM, the little brain that sets the choke, has a time delay for loads at start up, and an advanced load shut off when shutting off.
The hefty battery that came with it is recharged when running, and the remote uses a RF signal that has very good range and is not line of sight. It easily works from in the house.
The sound level is relatively quiet, and the engine runs smooth and seems to be reaonably fuel efficient.
I dare say look out Honda and other competitors, the day of quality assembly work from China seems to be here.
This tool is new to me and time will be the ultimate judge of quality. Did I mention the built in Hour / Hertz / Voltage meter?

I was reading it and wondering myself. I bought this unit specifically because it has a remote starter.

Hello, can this generator be started manually if for some reason remote/battery don't work?

Yes. I downloaded the manual. There is a recoil starter (pull the rope like a lawnmower or chainsaw)

"Receiver Control Module"---comes with this one. This is the thing in the unit that receives your remote signal, sets choke, starts engine (repeats 6 times to start) and also (this is big) delays power to outlets on start until unit stabilizes output. Shuts off outlet power before cutting engine on shutdown---this is only with the remote. By "manual" you have to disconnect your devices yourself.

It has been well over a year now since my first review, and the champion 46539 generator continues to please me immensely. I actually bought another one for extra power needs and for backup. They have different RF signals, so work independently. Nice. One now has about 90 hours, and the other about 150 with no problems other than a defective battery on one (not covered by warranty). And yes, I have changed the oil three times on both so far.

What kind of run time, and the load, do you get on a tank of gas? Average/ballpark would be good to know. I know my tiny EU1000 runs 8 hours fully loaded.
Thanks!

Yes, indeed it can be started manually as I had to do that this last weekend when the battery died for some reason. It has a recoiling pull rope.
