This review is from: Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Version 5: Reading, Mathematics, Science, English and Language Usage (Paperback)
I have been out of high school for 10 years, and needed a thorough brush-up on high school math and sentence structures. Honestly, I never gave another thought to complex v. simple sentences, simplifying fractions or determining if a line in a paragraph was a supporting detail, a theme or a topic. Those were the things that made me worry the most with the TEAS.
I went through this book methodically. I chose it mainly because the company that produced the book, ATI, is also the company that made the test. It is very well organized and put together. The first section is broken down into the four main components of the test, math, science, English and reading comprehension. All of the main ideas are discussed in detail, along with practice problems. The last third of the book has two practice tests and an in-depth explanation of the correct answers.
I took the practice tests the first time without reading the book. I scored a 67% - ouch! I then spent two weeks looking through the book, marking areas I knew were problematic and making flashcards. The next go-round with the practice tests, I was up to 92%. I do not yet have my score back from my TEAS V, but I felt good coming out and am very glad I got this book.

So what was your score on the real test?

Amy Mcfarland says:
94% :) I really do believe this book helped me achieve that score. Some of the questions were so esoteric, and I would not have studied them if not for the sections in the book.

If I still had it, it'd be all yours, but I did a little happy dance when I was done and passed it on as quick as I could ;)
