First book - First Review,
This review is from: The Winds of Khalakovo (The Lays of Anuskaya) (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed the debut novel from Bradley Beaulieu. I had some difficulty with the Russian flavored names, but not enough to distract from the story. A unique magic system (to me, at least) adds to the fantasy feel of this story. By the end, I was pulling for the hero, (as I should be) and compelled by the heroine. The dance scene at the banquet is still my favorite scene. I don't think that has ever been written in a review of fantasy literature before.
The end builds in intensity as it should, and of course leaves you wanting more. Back to the computer Mr. Beaulieu!!
