A Practical Guide on Value Investing,
This review is from: One Up On Wall Street :; How To Use What You Already Know To Make Money In The Market [PB,2000] (Paperback)
An thoughtful read from someone who has beaten the market for a very long time. Peter Lynch builds upon the traditional concepts of value investing and applies them to the modern day investing with lots of examples.
First, passing the mirror test is quite a revelation: do i own a house? then do i need the money? and finally do i have the personal qualities it takes to succeed. These are simple facts but so important.
Second, the classification of stocks based on whether they are slow growth, stalwarts, high growth, cyclical, asset play or turnaround provide a useful framework.
He explains in details on how to evaluate stocks and pick up winners based on the common parameters & knowledge available. Famous numbers like P/E, cash position, debt factor, dividends, profit before tax etc and there implications on stock picking are insightful.
Finally, Peter Lynch promises that if you ignore the short term gyrations and endless speculations, your portfolio will reward you in the long run.
An Excellent Book!!!
