Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable - 9.8 Feet (3 Meters) (Electronics)
I use to connect my PC to the TV and the length is excellent, the field is strong, however, should suggest buying "Belkin Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs (6ft)" with this, because DVI does not transmit sound only video, but in general is just what the doctor recommended me

I have a quick question for you. I want to use this to play my xbox 360 on my computer monitor. Would that work or do I need some other kind of device? Thanks!

As long as your monitor supports the appropriate resolutions (most likely 1080p), you should have no issues. Keep in mind, however, that DVI does not transmit audio, so you would have no sound, unless you use a headphone out jack. I know the PS3 can output sound from Composite (RCA) jack while displaying from HDMI, but I am not sure about Xbox 360. Check on that first.

Hi, do you know if I can just use a standard 3.5 male to 3.5 male cable for audio? Thanks

Some PC video cards, e.g. ATI HD 4770, have integrated audio chipsets. Those cards will pump audio over the DVI port for use with HDMI adapters. If I use a DVI-HDMI adapter dongle and an HDMI cable I get audio, however this cable (as stated in the specifications) does not provide audio.

I actually get sound from my nvidia 9800GTS directly out the DVI with this cable/converter alone, nothing else in the path externally. Important to note though that this gfx card accepts an electrical S/PDIF jumper cable from my mobo to the video card internally.
