5.0 out of 5 stars Book content Great! Kindle edition crash issues, October 3, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus, Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
I love all of Rick Riordan's books. I am disappointed that this book crashes the Kindle Fire. I thought I was alone last night with this issue but I see that there have been more people with bad files reporting crashes. I have read numerous books on the Kindle Fire and this is the first one that has crashed my Kindle. I got to around chapter 25 and 4 pages in the application crashed back to the home screen. I contacted Customer Service and was informed that the book would be removed from the Kindle store and the publisher would be contacted to get the issue corrected however it will take at least a week before this happens. Hopefully it will be resolved soon so I can continue reading this wonderful book.

It is not the optimal solution, but if you have a computer you can read it in the Cloud Reader just fine. I had the same issues, the ebook did not ork on any of my Kindles (Fire, Androis App, for PC) so I ended up finishing it in the Cloud Reader

My book crashed in the exact same spot. When I got home I tried reading it on my laptop. Made it past that spot then the kindle software on my laptop froze.

What did you expect? It's a gadget. Just by the PRINT BOOK and you won't have these issues!

I used to only buy the physical copies of the books I read. I then received the Kindle Fire for Christmas. I am a pharmacy student and it was a way to keep my notes and references all in one easy to carry source. Since I now had a Kindle I started reading books on it too and I actually like it better in some ways. I can now read my books on my lunch break at rotations without having to carry the physical book around since I'm already going to have my Kindle with me. The books are cheaper on the Kindle and I don't have to worry about where I'm going to store all the physical books in my tiny apartment. It's true I could have finished reading the book on my laptop, but since this is a problem more people are having they should fix it instead of just finding a work around. I can wait to read the rest of the book, I have enough stuff to do on my rotations now anyway.

This is the first issue of any kind I've had with my Kindle since I received it last Christmas.

I was just giving you that work around if you wanted to finish it right away. I tend to read very fast & hate stopping in the middle of the book, so reading it on the Cloud Reader was the best solution for me. They are aware of this issue, but since it is a problem with the source, they have to go to the publisher. This is also the very first issue I have had on my Kindle & again it is book specific. All of my other books work on it just fine.

I have a Kindle 3G Keyboard and I find that the contrast is very poor on this title. The letters aren't as dark as other books I read. In addition, I also read on my iPhone and when using the "black" setting for bedtime reading, the letters are grey instead of white. These two issues have made it really difficult to read this book... This is after the "update" too.
