A couple things.....,
This review is from: Tear The World Down (Audio CD)
Firstly, I have no idea why people are so surprised that this album has a huge Evanescence sound to it. It's almost all of Evanescence in We Are The Fallen so stop bitching about that.
Secondly, someone mentioned that Carly's voice wasn't used to her full potential and that she should belt out more and hold longer notes more often. Are you listening to the same album I am because she doesn't just "scream out the lyrics", she sings this album brilliantly. And do you know how annoying that is for a singer - when all people want to hear are flashy high notes and extended notes to oblivion. It's like Mariah Carey said in an interview, doing the high stuff is fine but over and over constantly is extremely boring. There are more textures and facets to a voice than acrobatics - there's nuance, feel with middle and lower ranges (for those who shine in those registers as well, of course)and other things.
Lastly, I do agree that Carly might be trying a bit too much to do the Amy Lee thing at times to fit the style of music the band plays. After all, she comes from a very Pop background. This in no way detracts from the amazing voice and her songwriting skills. You get bits of her sound sprinkled throughout the album, especially on a couple of the faster tracks and she really does shine through. I look forward to the next WATF album and hope that she brings more of her own sound into the sophomore effort, channelling a little less Amy. I really love her voice, though, and give her all the props in the world for being a great live singer (going off of all the WATF live clips I've seen so far). With all that being said, I love this album and firmly believe that when We Are The Fallen come into more of their own sound they will be even more of a killer band.
