This is only my second shave soap/cream, but it is a big step up from VDH puck soap. It has a nice fragrance and a cooling sensation. I have not yet perfected lathering with this cream, but that is due to several of my own issues (hard water, mediocre brush, and inexperience). This is a highly recommended affordable cream in the wet shave community and imo is deservedly so.

D. Marashall says:
As told to me by the salesman at Truefitt and Hill in London, do not attempt to lather your brush. Rather, with your finger place a dime size (adjust as you see fit) amount on both cheeks and your chin. Then with a good, hot badger brush, work your way around your face, swirling vigorously until you have a nice lather. Then, use your thumb and first finger to slide up the brush from the bottom to the end of the bristles, forcing rich lather to the "top." With your brush, remove the lather held between your thumb and first finger and continue to apply on your face as needed. The key here is that the richest lather will "hide" within your brush unless you force it out with your fingers.
