Makes Going To Pluto Seems Lame...(Rating: 4 out of 10- -2.0 stars),
This review is from: Pluto (Audio CD)
This guy named Future was supposed to be the next biggest thing in rap music. Most of yall got to see him on YC's one hit wonder song "Racks On Racks". Well a year and a couple of mixtapes later and we have this album titled "Pluto". Now lately I've been back to suppporting music from my hometown, minus a few artists I would NEVER think to waste hard drive space downloading. So when Future came out with his singles "Magic" and "Tony Montana", I thought he wasn't about anything, especially with his auto-tuned sounded voice on those tracks. And to be honest after hearing those songs, I'm not sure why I STILL purchased this album. I thought with the title "Pluto" I was expecting to hear something different. Boy was I wrong.
Staight up, this dude cannot sing (if anyone thought he could). Almost every one of his vocals is auto-tuned. I've gotten used to T-Pain's auto-tuned vocals, because his voice is still good, more or less. This guy with his auto-tuned voice sounds like he got drunk and got in the recording booth. Almost each song with the exception of "I'm Trippin" is just like that. Some of these songs it makes it tideous to hear his voice with all those enhancements. And it is sad too because a lot of these beats on this album are very good.
Aside from the vocals, the lyrics on this album aren't all that impressive either. Future says nothing new that I haven't heard from any other person mention about the cliched topics: Cooking dope, getting high, bad females, fly cars, etc. Some of the guests couldn't even save the songs they appear on. Big Rube fooled me because he appeared on many other Atlanta artist's albums in the past (Outkast, Goodie Mob, etc.), so it was pretty stupid to build my hopes of this album being along something of that nature when he appeared on the intro track "The Future Is Now". R.Kelly sounds like trash on "Parachute". T.I.'s verse is the only good thing about the single "Magic (Remix)". The aforementioned song "I'm Trippin" featuring Juicy J. is actually one of the good songs on here. The other good song on here is the Pimp C dedication "Long Live The Pimp" featuring Trae Tha Truth. But those good things that I named couldn't even save this album from being terrible as it is.
Overall I don't recommend this album to anyone except those who like nice beats, because they are great here. Download the few songs I mentioned were good. Future's average lyrics and his terrible auto-tuned voice makes this album almost unlistenable. Take my word for it. Peace.
