What a sad tale...,

This review is from: The Barefoot Bandit: The True Tale of Colton Harris-Moore, New American Outlaw (Hardcover)
I live in WA state and recall all of the media hype when Colten was leading the law on a chase to make Jesse James look boring. I did cheer him on all the while knowing that this was not a story that would end well. The local authorities were idiots and I have no respect for them at all. Yes, he was a thief, yes, he scared a lot of people but he was also a victim of the system that, despite every warning available, turned their backs on this boy and have to bear a great deal of the blame. He has so many chances to turn around, but, his worst enemy, his mother, was NOT going to let that happen. I feel very sad for a wasted life of a young man who could have soared with the eagles and become a great person. Great job of telling this story. A masterpiece of the genre.
