This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8 Pro - Upgrade [Old Version] (Software)
If this ugly bit of software is the future of computing, I will be going back to pen and paper. When I use a computer, I usually have many programs open at once and I jump between them. Then I might open another window to do some quick research. Windows 8 takes the computer back a generation or two and makes it look ugly in the process. I can see this working for phones, though I tried it on a phone and I traded it in after a day's use. So very dull. Maybe they think we will all use our tablets at work, I have tried that and they are too frustrating when you are trying to get work done. For real work this approach is a joke. Maybe for watching videos or surfing the web it is ok, but I use a 65 inch and a 40 inch TV to do those things so, I think not. Give me back the REAL start button, glass, and keyboard and mouse controls and I might come back to Microsoft. Hell, at least give me a CHOICE on how my system looks and functions. Don't jam some idiots fantasy down my throat. Who in the hell thought government signs from a metro station were the future. Did I really spend all of that money on the best system I could for flat colors and an almost total lack of any true customization? Why not go back to black and white? Think of the energy savings.

It's a dumbed down Operating System created on a shoestring budget. The flat look reminds me of Windows 95. It might work on child's toy phone. A friend of mine just bought a Win 8 laptop and said it never stops updating and rebooting, he returned it after 10 days! lol. Nobody will even remember Windows 8 in a few years, hopefully Google will step up to the plate and make a good OS.

This review is from: Microsoft Windows 8 Pro - Upgrade (Software)
It made my 7 Year old laptop run like new and it found all the drivers without me doing anything.I am running 64bit with an Inetel Duo T7200, 3GB(max) ram, NVIDIA 7900 GS, 100GB 7200RPM drive. I only upgraded the operating system and I no longer have any problems as I did with the horrible Windows Vista. My screen used to shake when I opened a window or minimized tried everything I was about to replace the graphics card but I installed Windows 8.1 and now it's running better than ever. I'll soon upgrade my windows 7 laptop and see how it does. Just try it out, besides the new start menu taking some time to get used to its the best windows yet.
