BEWARE! Many pages of corrections have been issued!,
This review is from: Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th Edition (Paperback)
I just received my copy. As a psychology professor, this text is required for my bookshelf--the same is true for students in this field. However, I was upset to learn that APA has already issued 7 typewritten pages of corrections to this manual, and they will not exchange the first printing for a newer print. This is a resource that you will use for years! Wait to purchase until the kinks have been ironed out and they are on a second or third printing of the manual! I am also disappointed that they do not clearly delineate the changes from the 5th edition. It looks to me that there are few important changes (2 spaces between sentences, etc.). Save your money for at least a few more months!

This seven pages of errata is extremely important to know about. APA needs to allow us to return the first printing.

I am a nursing graduate student required to have this manual. I strongly agree with the above comments don't buy it yet...I will continue to use my 2001 version for a few more months and hope this is acceptable. You can go to apa online and print out the corrections which are MANY! Looks like they let this get off the printing press a bit early.

You CAN exchange the first printing. I got this information from the APA website:
"Many people have found that the corrections supplement meets their needs; if you find, however, that it doesn't meet yours, we will provide you an exchange replacement copy of the second printing of the Publication Manual at no cost to you. (The second printing corrects all identified errors.) We are making this replacement process available to individuals and institutions who have purchased the manual.
In order to receive an exchange replacement manual, you must return your current copy of the sixth edition to APA no later than December 15, 2009.
We would like to make this transaction as cost neutral to you as possible. A process has been created to provide you with a UPS postage paid return label that you can use to return the book to us. Please call the APA Service Center at 800-374-2721 for more information about the paid return postage process."

The 2nd printing has been completed and all the changes are included in the book. If you haven't purchased it yet...now is then time!

I am glad you have found the mistake with this 6th Edition. What a bad deal, and I really need this manual.
