Stylish protection and grip support when used as a half case!,
This review is from: Cosmos Brown Leather Case Cover Bag for Panasonic GF3 Camera with 14mm len + Cosmos Cable Tie (Camera)
This Cosmos leather case is great for the Panasonic GF3 with 14mm lens. If used as a full case, the larger top portion ONLY fits over that one lens, Panasonic's smallest. Not even will the top portion fit the slightly larger 20mm pancake, much less the 14-42mm power zoom.
Still, the bottom does fit perfectly, with any lens, allowing you to use it as a half case (see photo). I shoot mostly manual focus with larger lenses >95% of the time, in half case mode. Regardless of which lens I happen to be using, I stash the top half of the case in my bag as long as my camera is out. Using only the bottom half of the case while shooting provides a better grip on the small GF3, with complete access to the touch screen (which I only touch with my Amazon Kindle Stylus Pen). When I'm finished shooting, I put the 14mm lens back on the GF3, stow whatever lens I'm using in its own case, put the top of the Cosmos case on the camera, and safely stow everything away.
As an added benefit, the case looks great in the half case mode. It gives a real retro rangefinder look, which is exactly what I want. Last weekend a pro photographer approached me as I was humbling shooting with my GF3 with the vintage Konica 50mm f1.7 manual focus lens mounted and the bottom half of the Cosmos case attached. The photog stated he had thought my outfit was a Leica.
Bottom line, in addition to affording grip support and protection, the appearance of the thing is quite sharp, totally rangefinder. I love it!
