Laughed till it hurt,
This review is from: The Laughing Jesus: Religious Lies and Gnostic Wisdom (Paperback)The Laughing Jesus
This was my favorite book of the year. I Laughed till it hurt. I gave the book to my mother for Christmas. The authors begin by ruthlessly deconstructing the three "Book religions" until little remains but a pile of rubble: The Torah was propaganda, the Gospels were a hoax, the Koran was the ravings of a murderous warlord. You wince, but you have to admire the demolition job. Only once the rubble is cleared away do the authors set about explaining what the Laughing Jesus really means: the inner wisdom of Gnostics through the ages - the mystics so routinely persecuted and killed by established religions. Then - the truly innovative part of the book - the authors create a foundation for 21st century Gnosticism: a path of wisdom the embraces scientific truth, of enlightenment here and now, of divine awareness in the midst of busy, modern life.
By the way, regarding the subsequent review that denegrates the US paperback - get the U.K. paperback from O Books. Excellent quality.

Ain't it the truth. I laughed out loud too and with every laugh was released and liberated more and more. It is amazing to see how ludicrous is so much we have been taught to believe and to accept and how wonderfully liberating to see that it is not true! And to see that what is true is so much more...profound, sacred, and beautiful...
