A Can't Put Down Book - 10 Stars,
This review is from: Ghost Warrior (Hardcover)
A wonderful book, although it did get me in trouble since once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It is the first book that I have immediately called/emailed friends and family about that love Arizona as much as I do. I grew up in Arizona in the 40's and was fascinated by the Apaches - I read everything I could about Cochise, the Chiricahuas and tried to track down information about Lozen - which I only found in brief mentions. Finally, in the 90's we lived for 5 years in the Sulphur Springs Valley under the shadows of the Chiricahuas. My husband, children, grandchildren and I hiked into Ft. Bowie many times and stood at the grave site of one of Geronimo son's grave.
As a child I met old people who had been born at the time of the indian wars - In the Valley I talked to relatives of people who had known Cohise. He had come into their homes as a friend. This book is one of the few I've read that show the Apaches as they were actually discribed to me in those long ago days. The land & people come alive under Ms. Robson's story telling
This book was the most factual book I have ever read about the Apache - and the most entertaining. Many thanks to Ms. Robson. Julie Chitwood
