A bit of a let down...,
This review is from: Barbie: A Perfect Christmas (DVD)
First, I really wish they would bring back the previous voice of Barbie...it just hasn't been the same since they changed after Mermaid Tale. The songs in this movie seemed odd and out of place. The older Barbie movies with songs just made more sense & the singing was MUCH better than in this film. Every time they would start a song in this movie, my daughters (5 & 8) were frustrated because it took so long for the song to end. The story was ok - had potential to be a really special story but just fell flat. I'm not sure what direction they are trying to take the brand - but it isn't really appealing to the target market of little girls that I know. A good start would be bringing back the other Barbie voice.

I am quite surprised by the review by Ms. Carmichael, my daughters (7 &10) have several of the older Barbie movies and were quite bored by them, but have loved the newer Barbie movies. The last few we have owned including A Perfect Christmas and Fairy Secret we have throughly enjoyed and loved. My toddler son even loves them. The music is very catchy and up beat, really just puts everyone in a wonderful mood after watching them- which is a big plus in my mind. Myself and my daughters throught the story line for The Perfect Christmas was great. The bottom line is this movie teaches that there is not truly a "Perfect Christmas". The characters teach that making the most of any situation you are put into is a must, even when things don't turn out the way you planned and spending quality time with those you love is the true meaning of Christmas, not the gifts etc. that you get. I thought this was a wonderful message for girls of all ages and the catchy tunes were just a bonus. 5 Stars for this movie in my book!

I absolutely agree with you, 100%. I'm tired of Diana Kaarina's voice; she's simply not Kelly Sheridan. And the songs in this movie can't compare with older ones. Personally, I thought the sound of Stacie's and Kelly's (She's still Kelly to me, not Chelsea!) singing voices were like nails on chalkboard.

i agree as well. the songs from the older movies were MUCH better. the songs in this film felt bland and cheesy.

I know, the songs were driving me insane! And when me and my sisters always make fun of barbie and say she got plastic sugary....AGAIN! It also took me some time to get used to her weird unsuitable voice. Her sister Skipper was awesome! She was probably the best part of the movie. When she told barbie how she really felt, I have to say that's how I felt about barbie.

I'm with LZ on Skipper; she was easily the best part of the movie. As for the rest... well, it was better than "Fairy Secret", but that's all I can say, really.
