Quick impressions after 3 hours of gameplay in a single Play Set,
This review is from: DISNEY INFINITY Starter Pack Wii U (Video Game)
Have played the Wii U version for about three hours, almost entirely in the Pirates Play Set. Some slowdown with lots of things happening, and the FPS rate doesn't always hold, but the overall the gameplay experience is a blast. Biggest disappoint with Wii U version is that Disney has disabled screen caps to miiverse, which is a fun way to share your experiences with the community. Have heard that the Pro controller and Wii Classic controller aren't yet supported, but haven't verified myself. The gamepad is actually used quite a bit for menus, item customization, loadouts, etc. ... you just need to tap through its three interface screens. The entire game is also playable on the gamepad. A huge chunk of the overall game hardware can be had for fairly cheaply this launch week. TRU has 20% off starter sets, bringing them down to sixty bucks, plus the previously noted B1G1 for one buck on disc packs. SamMart has both the Sidekicks and Villains 3-character packs for fifteen bucks each, or five bucks a figure, which is equivalent to our buy price for Skylanders figures. Target has the two Play Set expansions for seventeen fifty each. I dropped about one hundred thirty for a total of 14 characters (3 in starter pack, 3 in each character set, 2 in each Play Set, & got a pre-order character free at TRU with starter pack purchase), 2 add-on disc packs, and the two play sets. Haven't opened anything but the starter set yet and will return all else if the game falls flat on its face despite my initial highly favorable impressions. I bought this to play co-op with my SO and she's excited to give it a try (we play co-op Skylanders all the time). BTW, the only Wii U bug seen so far was a glitch that wouldn't let me complete a short mission. I just reloaded the last save and it played through just fine then. Great game so far. Graphics are excellent, but not ground breaking.
