Miley Cyrus is a talented musician. No doubt about it. She can deliver the goods on songs like "Adore You" and "Wrecking Ball". And there are a few other strong tracks (Drive) on this otherwise disposable album. Here Cyrus follows the pack by collaborating with random hip-hop artists that do little to enhance the songs, as well as structuring songs with heavy hip-hop beats. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. But given how overused it is in contemporary pop music, it's a disservice to her abilities. And her efforts to pass herself off as a grownup by muttering four letter words here and sexual overtures there come across as cringe worthy. Don't get me started on Miley's embarrassing attempts at rap. If you like Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop, you'll probably enjoy the majority of songs here. Cyrus has a lot going for her and this is a step towards finding her true authentic voice. The potholes along the way in finding her voice on Bangerz can be painful though.
