4.0 out of 5 stars No mention of vegetarian protein options but great resource overall..., August 17, 2010

This review is from: The Women's Health Big Book of Exercises: Four Weeks to a Leaner, Sexier, Healthier YOU! (Paperback)
This book is fabulous!
I won't reiterate what the other reviewers have mentioned about how well the book is organized - suffice it to say I totally agree.
My only disappointment was with the diet section. I wish they had included tofu, soymilk and some other vegetarian protein options for those of us who don't rely soley on animal protein.
Perhaps the next edition will be more on trend with the growing number of people who are seeking out protein alternatives to meat, dairy and cheese - even if only for variety.
Otherwise, its well worth the price!

Here is the list I made to help myself out:
High Quality Protein:
"Beef" Strips from Trader Joes
Cheese
Eggs
Pepperoni (vegetarian, Yves)
Protein Shake
Taco Filling Mix (Fantastic Foods)
Tofu (baked, scrambled, fried)
Tofurkey (sausage, slices, etc)
Seitan (riblets, cutlets, etc.)
Soy curls
Veg burgers & veg dogs

Soy isn't a health food and eating it in those massive amounts may cause health problems.

You're right, I lasted on this "diet" all of two days. This diet is unrealistic since cutting out carbs, or any food group, is unhealthy and won't last for the long term. But I disagree about soy not being a 'health' food; compared to meat it's way better for you.
