Love Rosetta Stone,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Learn German: Rosetta Stone German - Level 1 (CD-ROM)
I don't know how or why Rosetta Stone works as well as it does, but it is magic. After years of struggling through conventional language programs my son is flying through German and his best friend is zooming through Spanish and both boys are showing real facility with the process and the verbal responses. I have never seen students expressing themselves so quickly or more confidently in a foreign language. Hats off!

Having used Rosetta Stone in the past I would say you are lying and are being paid to make this assessment. Rosetta Stone is heavy on the marketing and nearly useless. The theory that people can learn a language as adults in the same way that people learned it as a child is laughable. Children do not have the perceptions, presuppositions and logic centers that an adult has and will use to try and figure out what it meant by the pictures. All RS does is show you pictures and say something, you have to guess what is being talked about. Is it the boy? The Table? The grass? Something about the Boy? His hair? Something about his hair? If the program worked as they say it does, they would not have to spend so much on marketing in places like Sky Mall. Pimsleur doesn't act this way, why? Because they have the best approach of any language course out there.

Although it is true that many adults can revert very well to their childlike state of mind (myself included, and I am a whiz at languages), I definitely agree that Rosetta Stone sounds like a complete hoax. I mean, it probably works somewhat well for some people, and is fun, but I too, like you, am very wary about super-popular-and-ultra-famous products like this.

Lying?! That's a serious charge and your accusation is not supported by any evidence. You will be fortunate if you aren't sued for slander and defamation of character for throwing around that sort of irresponsible language regarding an Amazon customer. My own experience with this amazing product has been quite positive and I was able to master Eastern Croatian in a very short time.
