Great Lengthy Game, Worth the money!,
This review is from: Far Cry 3 - PC (Video Game)
This game is a great installment of the FC world, stunning open world gameplay and setting, varied missions and side missions and some interesting story elements. I'd recommend it too because it's a good value for the inflated "opening day(month)" prices of just about every piece of entertainment out there. It will last longer than a more restricted linear type of game.
I honestly don't really remember the previous FC stories but the story here is OK, nothing amazing or too believable but not a train wreck. The main players voice makes him seem not at all like what he actually does in the game. A little too emo sounding to me, and the characters are all from Santa Monica btw. Elements I liked were the dream sequences that stand out and are generally pretty neat to watch/play. The story does have some pretty ugly parts to it but this is to be expected in the vein of FC2.
The animals are great in this game, the aggressive ones will attack you and kill you if you are not vigilant including tigers, crocs, bears, snakes,
sharks, etc. I find the human character models to be quite good in the world, better than during the cutscenes to me. Vehicles are varied and realistic, wish they would have different camera angles(swingman) for when driving though. It is really a pain having no peripheral vision while driving. All the vehicles usable by you are land or sea based no flying. They do have delivery side missions that are timed if that is something you want to do.
What I didn't like was when the game forces you to play a certain way like stealth or fail and button mashing sequences. Kinda goes against the open ended gameplay elsewhere. But thankfully these sequences are not common in the main missions. Some of the menus are a pain to deal with like when you want to switch weapons you initially can only hold 1 weapon so to switch you have to go to a store or a hideout even if you own more than one weapon. Once you craft more weapon slots it's not a big deal since you can hold 4 shooting weapons and switch on the spot.
As far as rig needed I have an older mid range one and on mostly high settings at 1680x1050 it's smooth throughout. Win7, 4GB RAM, HD6950, Q6600.
Overall this is a great game that is recommended. It's a great value since it's open world with many regular missions and many more side missions as well as just simple exploring of a pretty big world.
