This review is from: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I've made the switch over to Asus three years ago from Gigabyte and so far have had 3 out of the last four boards arrive DOA. Might just be making my way back but I guess it's hit or miss with Asus. Great if you hit, sucks if you miss. Hoping my Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 replacement board wont disappoint. Want to see if this board is all what the positive reviews say it is. We shall see!

Thanks Amazon for sending my replacement board so quickly! However, this replacement makes 4 out of 5 Asus boards DOA (will not post). I love my Asus Maximus Gene but that has been the only board that has worked for me thus far out of the last 5 boards Asus boards I've received. QC an issue? Possibly... I'm taking one more chance and really hoping this will work for me as it worked for so many. Could there be a bad batch out there or I might just be very unlucky with Asus boards. Giving it one more chance! C'mon Asus you can do it!

Greetings Mouse,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. Although it is possible four of the last five motherboards arrived DOA, it is unlikely, and it seems like something else could be causing the problem. That said, please allow me to help. At your earliest convenience, please contact me through email. 3478328.

Regards,

Mark

What PSU are you using Wattage info etc? Make sure your using all the power cables on the motherboard. Something is missing or not connected or possibly your PSU isn't enough to run all your components. What is your rig setup? CPU, GPU's etc. Its hard to believe you got that many bad boards in a row. My first one was defective on 1 of the PCIE slots being dead but the system did still work. My next board purchased works fine of the same make & model board. Both being this ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard. I'm not saying its impossible you got that many DOA but seems highly unlikely.

Believe me I'm just as bewildered as you and don't find this normal at all which even more so increases my disappointment. I've been looking to test this setup since the first Asus Sabertooth board I received and to my misfortune yes, I received three that did not work. I've been a system builder for over ten years and am methodical with all my builds. This is the first time I've ran into this predicament but to tickle your curiosity here is how simple my build is.

Case: CM Storm Enforcer
PSU: Corsair CX Series CX750M
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
CPU: AMD 8150FX W/Stock heatsink & fan
RAM: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2x4gb DDR3) @ 1866mhz
Hard Drive: SSD Samsung 840 Pro series (Windows 7 OS)
Optical Drive: Sony Blu-Ray Drive
Video: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2048MB GDDR5 128bit

So there you go, very simple! Let's see... All connections, check! Reseat ram (ensure in specified slots as recommended by manual) check! Check video card on each PCI-E slot, check! System lights (all off accept standby/power), check! Test hardware with other setup, check! Reset CMOS, check! Check check check and I wish that it worked so badly cause trust me time as a resource and Artic Silver gets wasted each time. So it's back to my trusty MSI 970A-G43 and despite an older chipset it's doing the job.

I welcome any other suggestions to other Asus model boards if you have any, but as for now I will stay clear of this board. Might look into a more expensive board or go back to gigabyte as my experience has been unfortunate. Hope this review helps! On a positive note, Amazon's packaging and shipping so far has been great which is why I continue to shop here. All the best to any of you looking to setup with this board.

Hey Mark,

Appreciate the follow up. I've decided to no longer procede with this board and stick with my old build. For me this would've been an upgrade however my experience is unfortunate and probably limited with the amount of boards out there. I thank you for your time and attention and should I need support in the future with any Asus boards I'll be sure to contact you.

Thanks!
