This review is from: The Macs: Mike McCartney's family album (Paperback)
Let's just face it - you'll never see the McCartney's "Dynasty" in this light from any other perspectives! This is the insight that only an insider could have written. And not just any insider, it would have to be Mike - who would readily spill the beans of his childhood adventures. And of course, only Mike would have cast Big Brother Paul McCartney in sometimes a 'villainous' role (in the most humorous ways possible!). Only he could have done that!
This book brings you through the historical journey of the McCartney "Dynasty" from Ireland to Liverpool, putting the events in historical perspectives, such as following Paul's birth, the family moved across the water because his father was working for the Royal Air Force.
The family tree that Mike created to illustrate where he and Paul had descended from was impressive, considering it was compiled and researched during the late 1970s. The photos are PRECIOUS! And overall this book is focused on a passionate insider who is very closed to the Beatles, so close that his life was in a way intertwined with the birth, rise, height, decline and eventual dissolution of the Beatles. You wouldn't see any other book like this. At the end, Mike seems to emphasize that The Beatles, and later on Wings came and goes, but Paul McCartney is HIS brother - that will never change.
If nothing else, you're guaranteed lots of chuckles and laughter with Mike's poignant way of story telling! Paul maybe the one with gigantic musical talent, and he could be funny as well, but I have to say Mike's HILARIOUS compared to Paul. He's guaranteed to make you laugh!
