I gave you an up-vote for describing what you saw. Note: the content of a Catalogue Raisonné is not really about being a coffee table art book but rather it's more for the curator acting as a de facto ledger so a complete body of work from the artist can be reliably identified by buyers and sellers.
It's a running record of a career so as to prevent forgeries, frauds and those "lost Warhol treasures innocently purchased at swap meet" but later found out to be stolen or faked from flooding the market. I suspect Andy's quotes are added to validate some particular nuance of the art to add more evidence to it's creation.
