4.0 out of 5 stars My kids love it!, April 18, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fantastic Pets - Xbox 360 (Video Game)
Pros: My kids (6 & 4) love this game. The ability to customize their pets is great. They can unlock new features for their pets the more they play it. They can pick multiple pets too. After the initial tutorial, they can jump right in and play from where they left off.

Cons: Long initial tutorial and pet set-up. Both kids can't play at the same time with both of their pets. Two people can play at the same time, but only with one pet.

Thanks for the review! I was considering buying either this game for Kinectimals for my kids (5 & 3). My oldest son played both the Kinectimals and the Fantastic Pets demos from XBL. He had a lot of fun with both but I think he liked the diversity of the animals in Fantastic Pets. My only concern is if they can do the set up part themselves. I don't know if Fantastic Pets will let me do the set up and then let them jump in a play the rest of the game.

I think Fantastic Pets is easier for really young kids to handle than Kinectimals. In lots of sections, Kinectimals requires a kid to be able to read and follow directions. There aren't enough auditory cues. And the little flying pet has an access that is a little hard to understand for some people. Parents end up having to do some things for the kid.

So this from the description of the game:
Interact with multiple pets simultaneously with a friend and be on screen at the same time
is incorrect? That seems odd.

Yeah, I thought so too. One pet at a time is all that we've been able to figure out, though. I admit that I haven't spent a long time working on the game. My kids seem to be doing just fine on their own. If someone knows how 2 people play with 2 pets at once then please let me know!
