Enough about OK Computer,
This review is from: Amnesiac (Audio CD)
While OK Computer is a very good album, it is not Radiohead's best and pales in comparison to Kid A and Amnesiac. Amnesiac is an amazingly powerful, dark, and surprisingly accesible album. Kid A fans will enjoy the haunting voices and beats on Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors and the guitar remake of Morning Bell, a standout track on Kid A. On Knives Out, the band brings guitars out again only with a darkness left absent on such other Radiohead power pop like Just, No Surprises or Optimistic. Colin Greenwood's excellent bass line on I Might Be Wrong is a excellent glue between dark, ambient music and British guitar rock.
Like Kid A, Amnesiac features very excellent concept art that really gives you a good idea of how to approach the music. Pictures of shadowy figures inside fires and dark political cartoons adds to the dark, anti-establishment feel of the album.
Radiohead fans will love Amnesiac but mainstream listeners beware of challenging, dreary, and creepy elements of Radioheads post-OK Computer programming.
