Terrible router! Poor signal and signal is constantly dropping.,

Our 5 year old router up and died one day after never giving us any trouble. We bought this router thinking it had good specs at an affordable price. Set up was a breeze. Problem is, it doesn't work very well. After 6 months of struggling with it, we're returning it. Sometimes it works fine for a few days, then on other occasions, the signal is constantly dropped and in the matter of an hour we can experience 30+ signal drops. The router also has very poor range. We have a small house, yet the signal is only strong enough in one or two rooms. Even in the room directly above the router with just a wood floor in between, it doesn't work. I've updated the firmware, changed the wireless channel and called customer support. Customer support seemed baffled at why it wasn't working properly after checking all my settings, then we some how got disconnected and no one called me back even though they took down my number in case of such an event. Customer support seems mainly equipped to handle people who can't connect at all or who need help with set up, not for more complicated troubleshooting like this.
Bottom line, we have to return it due to poor signal strength and constantly dropped signals.
