This review is from: One Second After (Hardcover)William R. Forstchen's One Second After is despotic, misogynistic, jingoistic, simplistic, juvenile tripe. It lacks attention to detail and in no way can it be described as "clever".
The premise was promising but the execution is filled with pop-culture cliche, sickeningly trite Hollywood stereotypes, and bad b-movie dialog.
Half way through I became more interested in studying the author's neuroses than the story itself. The fact this was a best seller makes me a little bit sad.
I could no longer suspend my disbelief when the appearance evil-satanist-drug-dealing-posse-general with a scar made me laugh out loud. Not reward enough for having to trudge trough the last half of the book.
