1.0 out of 5 stars Nikon Quality? No., March 29, 2011

This review is from: Nikon Coolpix P7000 Horizontal Leather Case (Camera)
I was looking forward to this case. When I opened the box the case was labeled as a Nikon product intended for the P7000. What could go wrong? I put the camera in the case, which was a very snug fit. Then I tried to close the case. It would not close to activate the magnet. It looked pretty silly with the top always open. Thank goodness I bought it from Amazon. I returned it immediately.

I went to my local professional photo supply and found a Canon Powershot Gx case. Those cameras are virtually identical in size to the P7000. It was too small to hold it.

I ended up buying the Tamrac MX5383 M.A.S. Flash Accessory Pocket - Medium (Black), which is a flash case. It is slightly larger than it needs to be but the camera drops in easily and the Velcro closes nicely. It has a belt loop and a loop on the top so it's versatile. It also has deep pouch that can hold quite a few memory cards or a spare battery. Granted, it's not leather but it probably won't draw attention.

Update: 4/26/11 See my review for Precision Design Digital Camera Padded Carrying Case for Nikon Coolpix L22, L24, L120, P100, P300, P500, P7000, S70, S1100pj, S3000, S3100, S4000, S4100, S5100, S6000, S6100, S8000, S8100 & S9100 Digital Cameras. In that I say that I took the Tamrac MX5383 case on a 1-week shoot and found the killer feature was the velcro strip that closes the case. It made way too much noise when opening (like in a museum). It also cause some damage to the camera's wriststrap. The Precision Design Digital carrying case ended up being my choice for a camera case that attaches to your belt without taking up too much room.

My Nikon Coolpix P7000 fits in this case perfectly, closes with ease, and stays closed as it should, with the camera in either direction. I've never had a camera case this nice looking, durable, and easier to use, for any camera before. It even stays closed with the camera hanging around my neck!
