Video Camera for kids,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MoviePix Kids Digital Video Recorder (Red) (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (Electronics)
My six year old son just turned 6 and he loves making videos. I read a lot of reviews on the matter and decided to go with this camera. It is still working 2 months after his birthday so that counts for one star. It was fairly cheap. I have read the review of one guy who rated this product poorly and he stated he'd rather get a cheap starter camera for adults. The problem with that is that you are going to spend at least 3X the price. So this camera gets another star. The next issue is ease of use. My six year old can operate it without reading the instruction manual so this camera gets another star. The picture quality is pretty rough, esp. indoors and the internal memory is pretty small, so I am going to have to subtract a star. You just about HAVE to buy another SD card to make it worth your while (I would recommend AT LEAST 2 GB). It is red (his favorite color) so it gets another star. It can take still pictures (it gets another star). Overall, I think I would purchase it again. It is NOT as toughly made as the Fisherprice photo camera but with a little supervision, I think it should last a while...

Wondering if you bought a SD or SDHC card? More specifically, wondering which I need to buy - don't want to buy SDHC to find out the camera won't read it. Thanks!

I just purchased this product and Amazon recommended an SDHC card to go along with it. They have a 4g Sandisk SDHC card on sale for around $5.

As a follow-up, we ended up buying this last year for both of my nieces (and SDHC cards). They loved them and use the cameras all the time. One even got dropped in the bathtub (don't ask). After sitting in some rice to dry it out, still works like a champ. My own kids begged for one this year, so both are getting one - a great little camera. Also works great as a webcam!
