This review is from: Simply Sensational Cookies (Hardcover)
I have 3 other Nancy Baggett cookie or dessert books which I treasure. This book seems uninspired and "dumbed down".
I have made several recipes which were fine, nothing out of the ordinary. The crispy-soft cinnamon-vanilla monster cookies are addictive.
Although there are some ok recipes and the photography is nice, I overall am underwhelmed and would recommend one of Nancy's previous cookie books.

Nancy Baggett says:
I am delighted to hear that you have and like some of my baking books, but, of course, am sorry that this one missed the mark for you. Since so many people are now too busy to spend all day baking, I worked very hard to keep the recipes as streamlined as possible while still delivering really appealing results. So, some cookies that at first glance look pretty simple may actually produce better results than one might guess. Here and there I also focused on how to use some unusual flavors and flavor combinations--like lavender, rose, citrus and fresh ginger, and chocolate with grapefruit and tarragon!--that I think some readers will find intriguing and enticing. And finally, though the techniques obviously won't be of interest to everyone, I include a whole set of unusual decorating recipes for making icings, buttercreams, sprinkles and other cookie garnishes that are colored with all-natural ingredients like cranberry and orange juice concentrates, pure raspberry powder, and fresh herbs. These add both lovely color and flavor, while skipping food dyes and other additives that some bakers really prefer to avoid.

Usually, I consider it unprofessional and defensive when an author responds to a review. However, in this instance, I think you handled it well, and gave me information that convinced me to buy the book. Thank you.

Personally I like that Nancy commented and I'm ordering the book, as we speak. Thanks Nancy!

Although I don't know Nancy personally, we live in the same city and she is very well thought of in this area. Every single one of her cookbooks is a work of culinary art!
