SHADOW TRAFFIC is a collection of stories which explores various themes of human nature: interpersonal relationships, loneliness, indecision. Each one brings the reader into a different theme; most of the time these themes become a character themselves.
While I was reading through certain stories, I kept thinking that I was purposefully being kept on the periphery of what exactly was going on. Every time I thought I was close to understanding the situation, I would be pulled away from it. When I would finish one story, I would sit back for a few minutes and think, "What just happened?" But it was in a good way. As is the case with many short stories, some stick out more than the rest. "Do You Like This Room?" made me uncomfortable, yet this was one of the best entries.
There's a feel of David Lynch in story form with this collection. There are surprises and times when you'll probably feel worried. This isn't a book which you'll curl up with because you want to relax or unwind. Still, this is a nice addition to my personal library.
