Not Majin USA,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Daimajin - Triple Feature Collector's Edition - Blu-ray (Blu-ray)
To be honest, I only got these movies because they were made by the same studio that made Gamera. But as I watched them, I realized these were not your every day cheesy special effect monster movies. They seem to have relatively good stories, each movie can stand on it's own, and the print quality seems pretty good. Also the Daimajin is only in like the last 15 minutes of the movies. Which I think helps by not filling the movies with alot of cheap effects, just a few good effects. Quality not quantity! So if you like Gamera or Godzilla, you should like these, but if you like lots of monsters during the whole movie, you might not. Godzilla fans might also like the music. Not to mention you get 3 movies on blu-ray for about the price of 1.

Does this include the US dubbing from the AIP versions - MAJIN, MONSTER OF TERROR and RETURN OF GIANT MAJIN - or is the third film the only one with English dubbing?

Usually I only play these movies in Japanese with english sub. But I did check it out and they all have the option for an english dub. Whether the dub is old or new I don't know.

Openmike, just some trivia about the Trilogy for you. It is not a real Trilogy that is in a sequence or continues a story or character.
Daimajin are 3 seperate films, directed by 3 different directors within the same year. So in a sense, you get 3 different interpretations of the same story or legend. Its kinda cool actually.

Thanks for the information. I always like finding out stuff about movies I like. I've been on amazon for a few years and these Great movies were the first products I ever wrote a review for.

Like you, I only watched these due the Kaiju liniage. However, the tone and pacing are very different. After watching the first, I saw a smiliar pace even if the directors were different. The people would suffer and plead, do all they could. Finally when good could persevere no longer and one would be willing to lay down their life to save others, Majin stirs. It's kind of compelling actually. By the time I watched the following two movies, I would get excited knowing the bad boss men were going to get it the way they dealt it.

After I watch the first one, I couldn't wait to see the other two. So I watched all three in the same day. And I liked them so much I wrote my first product review that night. Great movies! Also, I just happened to have a 2-foot toy in the late 70's with your pen name.
