Good, with issues,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Magic Path of Intuition (Kindle Edition)
The book is very typical of Florence Scovel Shinn, but I wouldn't call it a rehash (although some of the information sounds...familiar). My three-star review is because the Kindle version is challenging to read. The vibrant colors of some of the pages, while lovely in theory, do not lend themselves to being easily read. Additionally, the page layout is not a single-page format, but a landscape format (horizontal). Since I haven't seen a hardcopy version of the book, I can only guess that the actual book is small, perhaps making it easier for the publisher to create a horizontal instead of a vertical Kindle version.

I agree! I'm having a hard time reading the print and there's no option for enlarging the text. The colors and artwork are beautiful but don't make up for the textual limitations.

Please take up your issue with Kindle or Amazon or whoever created your technology - you are rating the book for its content NOT the technology you are using to read the book. Thank you.

I did find your review very helpful since it alerted me to the fact that the kindle formatting was not good. I would have purchased the kindle version. I did try to update to the latest version and see if it helped by downloading a sample, but alas it did not.

I think it's valid to comment in a review that the text is difficult to read. Anyone who buys kindle books would want to know that.

It isn't just Kindle. I love Florence Scovel Shinn so very much that I do believe were I able to only keep one writer in my home it would be her; and I am grateful to Louise Hay for bringing this new material to us. This being said, Florence Scovel Shinn's words stand on their own, and the bright colours and illustrations on each page rather detract from than add to the reading experience. Ms. Shinn's great dignity and poise are worthy of a more simple, basic treatment: as her words are simple, direct and go to the very heart. I don't think the excess "window-dressing" was necessary at all; and I look forward to a reissue of these words in which the focus will be on the beauty, the grace, the simple though powerful words of Florence Scovel Shinn. We would need not spray paint Rodin's the Thinker to make it more attractive: the beauty and purity of Ms. Shinn's work stands on its own, and a book would do well to reflect the spirit of her character as well as the power of her words. Again, I am SO VERY grateful to have Florence Scovel Shinn's words in any form but I equally find the format distracting and quite unnecessary. I would pay equally or double or triple or quadruple for a clear, simple, graceful text. Just my two cents!
