DO NOT tug,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Umbra Tug Paper Towel Holder, Bronze (Kitchen)
I was extremely disappointed in this paper towel holder! I updated my kitchen and wanted bronze accessories to match the oil rubbed bronze faucet. The top of the towel holder looks more like brass than bronze! I had ordered a new hand soap dispenser and a napkin holder in bronze. Both matched well but this looked terrible with the others. Color is the least of my disappointments! Several years ago I bought a counter top paper towel holder that has a wider center that allows you to pull off ONE towel at a time. That is what I expected this to be when it's described as working with a "TUG". If you tug on this one, you'll have many towels lying on the counter and none torn off! I was glad that I was able to return it without difficulty!

I beg to differ. Purchased this despite a number of negative reviews. I cannot comment on the bronze color because I chose the 'smoke' version, which is a neutral, satin brushed stainless steel color. As for the 'tug' feature, it works quite well with just a bit of hand/ eye coordination. No, you cannot yank on the end of the roll and uncrank it, or you will indeed wind up with towels all over the place. But if you use a gentle tug downward on the end before the perforation, it pulls off cleanly, as the rubberized spindle grips the cardboard center tube of a standard roll of towels quite nicely.
