Nice But Overkill,
This review is from: Casio Men's STB-1000-1CF "OmniSync Sports" Bluetooth-Enabled SmartWatch (Watch)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Casio makes good products – I’ll say that right up front. The look of the watch is fine. It’s sturdy and durable, but it’s not a cushy feel around my wrist. It’s very basic. The appearance is fine and I could read the surface easily in most light conditions. There are a lot of extra features, but I found running with this watch and trying to use them to be difficult.
The data apps like ‘Runmeter’, ‘Cyclemeter’ and ‘Wahoo’ are great little features run via Bluetooth from your phone, but you need to remember that you are running and shouldn’t be distracted during the run for basic safety reasons. There is a detailed process of setting up the Bluetooth and the apps which you really should know by heart after a few runs.
If you want to listen to music, you’ll need to be very coordinated in order to run and change songs with the watch. It’s best to just let the music run continuously. It’s a nice feature, but not necessarily a safe one when running.
The watch is great for tracking your run time, heart rate, speed, pace, etc. You’ll also get ‘push’ notifications when a phone call comes in so you can decide whether to take it. Walking and talking seems like a fine idea, but I’m sure I won’t be running and carrying on conversations. I did like the fact that it will find your phone if you misplace it –that alone is worth a lot.
Basically, this watch is best for those who want to track their fitness data. For that, it works fine. Having phone access, music access and other features is nice, but overkill. For the price, there are many watches that are competitive. It’s not bad, but I think Casio ‘over-thought’ this watch.
