This review is from: All Live (Audio CD)
I first heard of Gordon Lightfoot when "If You Could Read My Mind" came out while I was in college. Bought the alblum "Sit Down Young Stranger" and became a fan. I bought a lot of his records over the years and got to see him perform once in 1984. I still listen to my two "Gord's Gold" cd's on a regular basis. For me, Gordon Lightfoot will always be in the top tier of singer-songwriters.
This alblum of live recordings at Toronto's Massey Hall shows Gordon and his band in top form. It contains most of his best known songs and a couple of lesser know (to me) tunes. His voice may not be as strong or rich as it once was, but he still sounds good here. Combine that with some truly great songs and you have something I will enjoy for years to come.
My only complaint is that the alblum is too short. Gordon has done so many fine songs over the years that a lot of my favorites did not make the cut. I can only hope that an "All Live 2" may happen someday.
