The only reason that I gave this one star is because that is the lowest you can go. Just about everything in this game is broken. I preordered this game for $99 dollars. My basis was from my past experience. I always bought every map pack in past games and would save $10 overall if they provided the same number of packs as the past titles by paying for them upfront with Elite. Had I known what I was getting into, I never would have even bought the game. Elite content was broken for months after release. They should have given a rebate due to it's lack of performance. BlackOps had it right with the Combat Record form of stats. Elite you have to either go online or exit out of the game to view detailed stats. I still don't think they showed as much detail as the in game Combat Record of BlackOps. Elite also allowed you to get the maps earlier than the general public. They would release a map or 2 and then a few weeks later a couple more, then after a month or so allow the public to buy them. The whole while limiting the gametypes that you can play on those maps, thusly removing any benefit that you would get by having them a month or so early. Unless you play those gametypes. I do not care if I get them earlier. The benefit of getting them for less cost would have been enough.
The woes continue. This game tried to be too much to too many. It alienated the hardcore fans of the series by trying to even the playing field. The addition of welfare perks(Support) was a miss. At least the inclusion of lethals in this system were. A player should have to earn killstreaks. Making all Hardcore games Ricochet was the dumbest system. Ricochet is when you inflict damage onto a teammate, you are the one that gets the damage. So if you shoot a teammate, you die. This would be fine if that is where they left it, but they didn't. If you call out an area that you were sending a bombrun and a teammate ran into that area, you would be the one killed. In a precision airstrike you send 3 consecutive runs and because the teammate was not killed in the first run, you die again, and a third time, unless an enemy kills them prior to the runs.
In hardcore mode they allow teammates to destroy your equipment, like sentry guns, sam turrets, etc. Not only do they allow them, but they reward it with credit towards your pointstreaks. How flawed is this?
My largest complaint is this, the Lag compensation. someone with highspeed internet gets a lag placed onto them when they are matched up against a slower speed connection. So you will see an enemy first, start shooting, and get nothing. They will turn the corner and 1 shot you with extreme accuracy. If you watch a kill cam it shows them shoot you without you even reacting. The worst part is you may expend half of your clip in the time that you see them and need to reload by the time they react to your shots, but because you are lagged your shots did not count towards anything.
The only redeeming quality of this game is Kill Confirmed, where you or a teammate have to pick up a set of tags left by an enemy that was killed to get the credit. This was broken also. They award 50 pts towards a kill, 50 pts towards a defend, but if you are killed and then pick up your own tags you get 250 pts. Would be ok, but they allow tactical insert which opened the door for boosters. They would set a tac stand on it, get killed and immediately get 250 pts. Players would line up on opposite teams and meet up with an enemy and trade services for such boosting. This never got fixed.
I sold my game 2 months ago on Ebay for $25 with free shipping.
Game cost, $99.
Loss of investment, $85
Lesson learned to never preorder an Infinity ward game again, Priceless.
