A WONDERFUL book
Refreshing to read such an honestly written account of a spectacular life.
No holding back on anything here
Not surprising really - a great song-writer who happens to be a great writer.
Write on Carole!!

I agree John: A wonderful book. However, as regards your comment 'No holding back on anything here', the memoir in fact is singularly restrained and avoidant of lots of details; i.e., she holds back a lot! There's nothing wrong with that, though, after all she is a private woman in the public spotlight trying her best to look after herself and keep her fans happy at the same time.

I believe that the reason so many of us see Carole as "holding back" so obviously, is because we have just finished reading the phenomenal "Girls Like Us" by Sheila Weller. I would not have known enough to know that Carole was avoiding some things if I had not just finished GLU....so, it pretty much comes down to some unfortunate timing of the books being released in such close proximity.
