The last straw for Verve.,
This review is from: The In Crowd (Audio CD)
Once again, Verve has botched up what could have been a great reissue (I was particularly looking forward to this one) by deleting two bonus tracks that were on the original Chess CD. By making consumers choose between less music and lower sound quality, the record company is insulting our intelligence. I am not likely to buy anything on the Verve label group for quite some time thanks to this fiasco.

So anyway, how was the cd...

The reviewer is right to point this out. Verve's current line of jazz reissues are of such poor quality, so hastily thrown together, that the production of the reissue really does overshadow the quality of the music itself. The album is a classic, but like they have with great Coltrane albums, great Gato Barbieri, etc., they f*@cked things up with this kind of reissue.
